Port operator PSA Singapore is gearing up to move its Tanjong Pagar Terminal and consolidate all container port activities to the Tuas mega-port.
This is in accordance to the URA Master Plan for The Greater Southern Waterfront City by 2030. When PSA vacates the land from Pasir Panjang to Tanjong Pagar. These land will be sold to highest bidder in the land sales. The whole stretch of waterfront land will be developed into shopping centres, hotels, high end residential and offices. This transformation will definitely be the next highlight in the Southern part of Singapore skyline. The whole stretch of development will cover from Pasir Panjang, to the current Vivocity area where Corals @ Keppel Bay, iconic Reflections and other Caribbeans @ Keppel Bay to Pulau Brani, Tanjong Pagar and up to the Marina Bay area. Marina One, a Singapore development project, is also situated in the Marina Bay area.
The new Tuas facility will be grander and nicer. It will transform as part of Singapore's Next Generation Port. It can handle up to 65 million standard-sized containers up from 40 million today. It boasts features such as automated yard cranes and port equipment to raise productivity and reduce labour costs. It will be able to cater mega-vessels and the complex needs of shipping alliances.
The move has been anticipated for some time now and PSA is now ready for action now. This will free up valuable land for more commercial and residential projects as part of the Greater Southern Waterfront City Project.
